Answer: A

The interference intensity follows I=I0cos2(Δϕ2)I = I_0\cos^2\left(\dfrac{\Delta\phi}{2}\right). A path difference of λ\lambda gives Δϕ=2π\Delta\phi = 2\pi, so I=I0=KI = I_0 = K, i.e. I0=KI_0 = K. For a path difference λ/3\lambda/3, Δϕ=2π3\Delta\phi = \dfrac{2\pi}{3}, giving I=I0cos2(π3)=I04=K4I = I_0\cos^2\left(\dfrac{\pi}{3}\right) = \dfrac{I_0}{4} = \dfrac{K}{4} (option A). The other choices ignore the cos2\cos^2 dependence on phase.
