NEET 2026
NEET 2026 · Q139
The following are the stages of life cycle of Plasmodium. Arrange the stages in the proper order.
Statement I: The parasites reproduce asexually in RBCs, bursting the cells.
Statement II: The parasites reproduce asexually in liver cells, bursting the cells and releasing into blood.
Statement III: Gametocytes develop in RBCs.
Statement IV: Sporozoites reach the liver through the blood.
Statement V: Female mosquito injects sporozoites into humans during bite.
Choose the correct answer from the options given below:- (1)
V, IV, II, I, III
- (2)
I, II, III, IV, V
- (3)
III, I, II, IV, V
- (4)
V, III, IV, II, I
Answer and solution
Answer: (1)
Infection begins when a female Anopheles mosquito injects sporozoites into the human during a bite (Statement V).
Sporozoites travel through the blood to the liver (Statement IV).
multiply asexually in liver cells and burst out into the blood (Statement II).
then invade and multiply asexually in red blood cells (RBCs), rupturing them (Statement I).
Finally gametocytes develop in the RBCs (Statement III) to be taken up by the mosquito.
Correct order: V, IV, II, I, III.- (1)
NEET 2026 · Q151
Match List I (Drug) with List II (Effect) and choose the correct answer from the options given below.
List I
List II
P) Nicotine
I) Causes sense of euphoria and increased energy
Q) Morphine
II) Stimulates adrenal gland to release catecholamines into blood circulation
R) Heroin
III) Effective sedative and painkiller
S) Cocaine
IV) A depressant; slows down body function
- (1)
P-III, Q-II, R-IV, S-I
- (2)
P-II, Q-III, R-I, S-IV
- (3)
P-II, Q-III, R-IV, S-I
- (4)
P-III, Q-II, R-I, S-IV
Answer and solution
Answer: (3)
Nicotine stimulates the adrenal gland to secrete catecholamines (P-II), morphine is an effective sedative and painkiller (Q-III), heroin is a depressant that slows body functions (R-IV), and cocaine produces a sense of euphoria and increased energy (S-I). This gives P-II, Q-III, R-IV, S-I, which is option (3).

Re-NEET 2026 · Q165
Which of the following are secondary lymphoid organs?
Statement I: Bone marrow
Statement II: Tonsils
Statement III: Spleen
Statement IV: Thymus
Choose the correct answer from the options given below:- (1)
(I) and (II) only
- (2)
(II) and (III) only
- (3)
(II) and (IV) only
- (4)
(I) and (IV) only
Answer and solution
Answer: (2)
Primary lymphoid organs are where lymphocytes are produced and mature - the bone marrow and the thymus. Secondary lymphoid organs are where mature lymphocytes go to meet antigen and mount a response: the spleen, lymph nodes, tonsils, Peyer's patches of the small intestine and the appendix. Tonsils and spleen therefore belong to the secondary group. NCERT Class 12, Human Health and Disease.

Re-NEET 2026 · Q171
Colostrum, secreted by mother during initial days of lactation, is abundant in ________.
- (1)
IgG
- (2)
IgM
- (3)
IgA
- (4)
IgD
Answer and solution
Answer: (3)
Colostrum, the yellowish fluid produced in the first few days after birth, is rich in immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibodies. Because these are ready-made antibodies handed directly to the infant rather than produced by the infant itself, this is a form of NATURAL PASSIVE IMMUNITY, protecting the newborn until its own immune system matures. NCERT Class 12, Human Health and Disease.

Re-NEET 2026 · Q177
Which of the following is used as an effective sedative and painkiller for treating post-surgery patients?
- (1)
Interferon
- (2)
Antibiotics
- (3)
Morphine
- (4)
Anti-retroviral drugs
Answer and solution
Answer: (3)
Morphine is an opioid extracted from the latex of Papaver somniferum. It binds to receptors in the central nervous system and is a very effective sedative and painkiller, which is exactly why it is used for patients recovering from surgery - and also why it carries a high risk of abuse and dependence. Re-NEET 2026 · Q179
Which of the following statements is correct about Plasmodium?
- (1)
Reproduces sexually in liver cells
- (2)
Reproduces sexually in RBCs
- (3)
Gametocytes develop in mosquito gut
- (4)
Fertilization takes place in mosquito gut
Answer and solution
Answer: (4)
The division of labour between the two hosts is the key to this life cycle. In the human, Plasmodium multiplies ASEXUALLY - first in liver cells, then in red blood cells, where gametocytes also form. Those gametocytes are taken up when a female Anopheles bites; only inside the mosquito's gut do the gametes fuse, so fertilisation and subsequent development happen there. The mosquito is therefore the definitive host. NCERT Class 12, Human Health and Disease.

- (1)
When ready-made antibodies are directly given, it is called "Passive immunity".
- (2)
Active immunity is quick and gives full response.
- (3)
Foetus receives some antibodies from mother, it is an example for passive immunity.
- (4)
When exposed to antigen (living or dead) antibodies are produced in the host's body. It is called "Active immunity".
Answer and solution
