Electromagnetic Induction

Faraday's law, Lenz's law, motional emf, and self and mutual inductance drive this chapter. NEET goes numerical here: induced emf from changing flux, a rod moving through a field, energy stored in an inductor.

Weightage: what the paper actually did

Electromagnetic Induction carried 1 question in the NEET 2026 paper. One paper is a data point, not a destiny: NTA moves weight between chapters every cycle, which is why the weightage tables deserve care. The stable facts are the paper's shape: 180 questions, 720 marks, +4 right, −1 wrong.

Question 1 · NEET 2026

A rectangular wire loop of sides 8 cm and 3 cm with a small cut, is moving out of a region of uniform magnetic field of magnitude 0.3 T directed normal to the plane of the loop. The emf developed across the cut, if the velocity of the loop is 2 cm s1^{-1}, in a direction normal to the shorter side of the loop, will be:
  1. A.4.8×1044.8 \times 10^{-4} volt
  2. B.1.2×1041.2 \times 10^{-4} volt
  3. C.1.3×1041.3 \times 10^{-4} volt
  4. D.1.8×1041.8 \times 10^{-4} volt
Answer and explanation

Answer: D

The motional emf is E=BvlE = Bvl, where ll is the side perpendicular to the velocity. Since the loop moves normal to the shorter side, the effective length is the shorter side (3 cm): E=0.3×(2×102)×(3×102)=1.8×104E = 0.3 \times (2\times10^{-2}) \times (3\times10^{-2}) = 1.8\times10^{-4} V. Option A wrongly uses the 8 cm side. Why the other options are wrong: - (A) Uses the 8 cm side instead of 3 cm. - (B) Wrong numerical factor. - (C) Rounding/arithmetic error.

How to practise Electromagnetic Induction

Chapter by chapter, against real past-paper questions, on a screen: NEET is computer based from 2027. Read the chapter once, then attempt its PYQs until your accuracy stops climbing, and let the wrong answers tell you which lines to reread. If the chapter keeps refusing to stick, that has its own guide. There is also a free 12-question mock on the exam screen.

Questions

How many questions did Electromagnetic Induction have in NEET 2026?

Electromagnetic Induction carried 1 question in the NEET 2026 paper. Weightage shifts between cycles, so treat it as a probability, not a promise.

Where can I practise Electromagnetic Induction PYQs for NEET?

In the BrainIt app, free until the 2027 exam: its bank holds 50,000 past NTA questions tagged to all 83 chapters, including this one, with accuracy tracked per chapter. A sample question from this chapter is on this page.

Is Electromagnetic Induction important for NEET 2027?

It is part of the Physics syllabus the paper draws from, and NEET 2027 is computer based, so practise it on a screen. Your own accuracy in the chapter matters more than any weightage table: a heavy chapter you already score well on needs less time than a light one you keep missing.
